We have opened up a SonicBids drop box to begin our search for music for our upcoming film. Unless you volunteered to play at our fundraiser, this is the only method we will be using to consider songs for our movie. If you are not yet a Sonicbids member and want to submit online, visit http://www.sonicbids.com/IndieFeatureLicensingOpportunity and sign-up for the Sonicbids Combo Package (includes your submission AND a discounted Sonicbids membership). If you are already a Sonicbids member, log in to your Sonicbids account and visit the Promoter Drop Box to submit.
Hi
I would love to submit music for your film. I think I have music you might be interested in, however I think it is odd that I am being asked to pay in order for you to consider it.
Sean
Hi Sean,
Thanks for your comment.
We are using SonicBids exclusively for our music search because they give us a great set of tools that makes collecting and organizing submissions extremely easy. We don’t have time to manage submissions in all sorts of different formats from all sorts of different sources.
This way allows us to truly consider each and every song that is submitted. You can believe me when I say that if we simply accepted mailed/emailed press kits, a lot of songs would get lost in the mix and would not get the consideration they deserve.
There are always ancillary costs involved with promoting your music to anyone – we are also musicians, so we know this first-hand. This is why the SonicBids submission fee makes sense – its potential ROI for is much higher than other methods, for both artist and promoter. It will also help to ensure that the quality of submissions is high.
Thanks again; we hope to see your songs in our drop box.

Hi Steve
“all genres of rock” is actually a pretty wide net to cast. Can you narrow it down a bit so we can save you time and us money? Are you considering female rock. If so ala : Joan Jett, Avril Lavigne, Bonnie Raitt, Aimmee Mann, Sheryl Crow, Amy Winehouse, Sarah McLachlan, Dixie Chicks?
more info would be really helpful
thanks
Liz
We are looking for any music that would be played on a rock and roll radio station. The songs will be used as diegetic sound, not to be empathetic music. Any song that would be played on a rock station would potentially work.
Are you seeking any non-diegetic music or do you already have someone for the score?
Okay, so we pay sonicbids to make your job much easier, they make all the songs one click away for you, and in return you charge us even more to submit songs, lets go back to the old way where we just mail them in. That’s better for us. I can mail 50 songs for 5 bucks, not 250!
Also we could use information about what the flat fee is for our songs, if we are chosen. I mean is it worth writing something for you or not?
And what is the royalty for the sound track album, industry standard? Why is this not known?
I don’t even know what kind of radio station the film is about, is it a classical, jazz, blues, folk station. I mean I’m feeling here that you just keep this vague so you get lots of entries and make lots of admission money off the poverty-sticken songwriters.
What is the mood of this film? and especially the song spaces? Somber? slap stick? Suspenceful? You don’t even tell us that. Honestly, I think you and sonicbids just want to nickel and dime the songwriters.
I’m an awarded scriptwriter myself and I would never approach this the way you are, if I wanted to get good songs, and save time, and not exploit the songwriters.
I make very experimental music.
Please give me a listen

not on sonicbids – work all the time in film/yv – check out my website – http://www.candlebne.com
Hey, this film looks awesome, would love to be part of the soundtrack for it as I think our music would suit the genre of the film and easily fit into one of the scenes.
Four tracks can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/TWOMINUTEHOUR and let us know what you think
Thanks
Steve
Yes thats a good point.
I also would love to submit music for consideration but the question is this…
if the material is accepted, who owns and controls the copyright.
Is there any upfront money for custom music etc.
Do we retain 100% writers share?
I have no problem making nothing for my music to be reviewed
but I do have a problem spending money just for it to be reviewed.
I currently have a deal whereas my music is used in film and television and I was paid half upfront to compose the music and the other half when the composition was done.
I dont own the copyright but I do get 100% of my writers share and I did not have to spend anything to start. So that deal was a win win compared to everything else I can find ( so far )
A note to the music super of this film
Im willing to compose music under a work made for hire agreement.
Email me and lets speak further.

Top of the day to you hard working people of this interesting film you are producing. Keep 6 has submitted music to your film through Sonicbids and we as a whole feel that two of the songs we have submitted will be exactly what you are looking for in the two slots you have stated in your paragraph in the Sonicbids slot. “Stand Watching” I feel would be a perfect fit for the opening slot as you mentioned and “Inside An Image” would definitely be perfect for the harder edge slot you have mentioned. Due to the lack of character space provided through Sonicbids paragraph, I felt that this submitted comment was necessary for you to take a serious listen of what Keep 6 has to offer. I wish you well on your project and we look forward to contribute to your film with our original material. Take care and kudos.
Matt from Keep 6
The Pennies submitted a song for consideration, through Sonicbids. This song ‘Shine within Sadness’ was selected last year for an 11 million dollar horror movie, starring Jennifer Tilly (The Caretaker). Please take a listen.
